We know very little about the scissor. In fact, there are no mentions after the 1st century AD. Some historians equate him with the arbelas gladiator. Protected by scale armor (lorica squamata), which would compensate for the lack of a shield, he wears a helmet similar to that of the secutor. He uses two weapons: in his right hand (protected by a leather manica), a short, straight sword, and in his left, a metal tube (held by a handle on the inside) ending in a crescent-shaped blade (arbelos), very similar to those used by tanners and shoemakers of the time.
