Sophonisba, Hasdrubal the Fair’s first wife, Hamilcar Barca’s daughter and Hannibal Barca’s sister, confronts her husband feeling vexed by his latest political and personal decisions (unfortunately, for families like hers it was difficult to disentangle them from each other), and his detestable advisor Zekárbal, high priest of Eshmún and implacable master of intrigue and secrets.

As chance would have it (or whatever we want to call this serendipity) the most important day for the closing of the approach to this scene appeared again on my television (sometimes, instead of with music, or in silence, I work with the company of a film in the background) Zorba the Greek. And whit him, Irene Papas, who was for me, honestly, the initial visual inspiration for this Sophonisba for so many things, although she continued to evolve later towards other nuances out of a clear need for her own identity. But Sofonisba will always owe (and I will) something to the extraordinary Papas' essence.
